Norwood

Nestled 4000 feet above sea level in the tea-growing Dickoya region of the southern highlands, the luxurious Norwood Bungalow commands a fine view of the eastern end of the Bogawantalawa Valley, resting in the shelter of one of the finest bamboo stands to be found in the island. It is here where planters of the past invited friends to enjoy the pristine air and glorious outlook. You too can wander the gardens unchanged since yesteryear, soaking up the atmosphere of a time gone by. Enjoy a traditional English cream tea on the lawns served by authentically dressed butlers, many from the same families that served the planters during the colonial period. The property is part of the Ceylon Tea Trails group of properties, a fine collection of four beautifully refurbished tea bungalows in one of the most idyllic corners of Sri Lanka. All the Ceylon Tea Trail properties are very highly recommended.

Accommodation
Norwood bungalow has three types of suites: luxury rooms, garden suites and master suites, all named after former planters in the estate. The suites are generously spacious with imposing colonial style furniture, some with four-poster beds, and all with elegant bathrooms.

Facilities
A large lounge and well-stocked library lead out to a croquet lawn, a large swimming pool, summerhouses and sun deck.   Various indoor games are available for a rainy day.  Rooms are sold on an all-inclusive basis, including breakfast, lunch, an afternoon cream tea, dinner, all soft drinks and non-premium alcoholic beverages (including wine).

Excursions
The Ceylon Tea Trails offers plenty of attractions for active-minded travelers, including: guided trekking in the surrounding estates or Horton Plains; climbing of Adam’s Peak, Sri Lanka’s holiest mountain and a pilgrimage site for all four of the world’s main religions. There are various Mountain Biking trails in the vicinity and watersports are also available both on the lake and in Kitigula, the main location for whitewater rafting trips in the island. Golf enthusiasts can take a day trip to Nuwara Eliya for a round of golf on a picturesque course. A Tea Experience is also offered, providing interesting insights into the growth and manufacture of tea, Sri Lankas most famous crop.
