The Lighthouse Hotel, located barely a mile from the historic southern city of Galle, is the inspired creation of Geoffrey Bawa, Sri Lankas world-renowned architect. Accommodation
The hotel has 60 deluxe rooms and three suites in Moroccan, Chinese and Dutch design. Rooms are crisp and atmospheric in an understated boutique style. All have sea views with private balcony, a/c, IDD phones, multi-channel cable TV, tea-coffee facilities, personal safe, bath and shower. Suites have king-size beds, other rooms have twin beds.

Anchor bar and grill (lounge and outdoor terrace) serves good-quality western snacks, with children’s menu. The Lighthouse’s fine-dining restaurant – the Cinnamon Room – also enjoys a high reputation. 24-hour service is available from the Cardamom Café. Outside eating, alongside the sea, includes seafood BBQs among the rocks and the Adam and Eve experience – a chance to dine in solitary, romantic splendor alongside the crashing of the waves.  Other facilities include a Business center, a shopping arcade in the lower lobby with a selection from various Sri Lankan lifestyle shops, including clothes, accessories, sculptures, books, a homeopathy clinic, and a jeweler. Excursions
The hotel has a small private beach but swimming is not always safe. However, there are a variety of superb beaches worth visiting in the local area, from the long surfing beaches of Hikkaduwa to the crescent-shaped Unawatuna Bay. Galle’s old Dutch Fort is just a short drive away. An afternoon can easily be spent here exploring a variety of artisan shops and restaurants, as well as just wandering the ramparts. Cycling trips can be arranged inland through paddy fields to Yatagala temple.
