Accommodation There are 12 spacious air-conditioned pavilions, each with its own in-house therapy area, private garden with frangipani trees, bedroom and ensuite bathroom with bath tub and open air shower with hot and cold water. Peace and privacy is a hallmark at the Ayurveda Pavilion with complete in-room therapy and dining facilities. There is also television, music system with a selection of relaxing music CDs, telephone with International Direct Dialing facility, mini bar, safety locker, and hairdryer in all of the pavilions. The King pavilions have more spacious bedrooms and garden areas.
Facilities The services at Ayurveda Pavilions are based completely on individual guest’s health and nutritional requirements recommended by the in-house Ayurveda medical practitioner. Following an initial consultation, daily menus and therapies are organized for each guest for the entire duration of stay. Therapies offered ranges from relaxing and rejuvenating massages using herbal oils, body wraps, and flower baths to the more intensive curative Ayurveda treatments for a range of medical ailments including diabetes and Cholesterol. Supplementary educational programmes on Ayurveda, knowledge of medicinal plants and healthy cooking, music therapy, Yoga, and meditation are all a vital part of the resort’s holistic approach to health and well being. A minimum stay of 3 days is recommended for the relaxation therapies with longer periods required for the more intensive treatments. At the end of your stay, each guest is given a report by the Ayurveda physician with recommendations for your diet and continued well being The resort also has a separate Ayurveda Centre with a pharmacy and additional treatment areas, a herbal garden, a tranquil swimming pool with Jacuzzi, and restaurant offering Ayurvedic cuisine prepared with locally available fresh fruits, vegetables, and seafood.
Excursions Guests are encouraged by the chef to participate in the in-house cookery programme which begins with a visit to a fishing village nearby to purchase fresh seafood followed by a visit to the local market for vegetables. Once back at the hotel, guests are invited to the kitchen for an Ayurvedic cookery demonstration using fresh herbs and condiments. An excursion is also organized to the ancient Aluthpola rock temple where guests can participate in Buddhist discussions and the daily poojas (alms giving to the priests). The turquoise blue waters of the Indian Ocean are only a few minutes walk away and can be enjoyed at the sister property, The Beach, a five-star hotel located nearby.
