The Beach is the best thing to have happened to Negombo in the past decade. The hotel was reopened in Jan 2005 after a complete refurbishment which has transformed the property into a luxurious five star hotel and now, a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World.  The hotel is tastefully designed along contemporary lines, taking the surrounding seaside landscape into full view.  Open verandahs, walk ways and waterways - brings in the cooling ocean breeze and the tropical sun – influences of the Geoffrey Bawa genre of architectural design. Interiors are minimalist and elegant with cemented floors and walls infused with a touch of amber coloring, enhanced with dramatic contemporary art in the lobby area, and the minimum of hardwood furniture throughout.  The hotel is very much a home away from home, and has something special for everyone including an extensive fun filled Kids Club for children, an action packed water sports centre for adults, and a luxurious spa for those wanting to be pampered.

Accommodation
There are 75 Deluxe Rooms and 3 Suites which are beautifully laid out with ensuite bathrooms and balcony or ground floor terrace with sea views.  All rooms and suites have individually controlled airconditioning, telephone with International Direct Dialing facility, cable TV, DVD/CD player, mini bar, tea/ coffee making facility, electronic safe and hair drier.

• Deluxe Rooms: These spacious rooms are furnished with luxurious king size beds and have ensuite bathrooms with bath tub and enclosed rain showers.
  
• Suites: The luxurious Suites have sitting and dinging rooms and an open plan, large bathroom with open air rain dance showers, Jacuzzi, and courtyard with sun loungers for soaking up the sun.  The Suites come with a butler service that will coordinate all aspects of your holiday including in-room dining and excursions.  There is also a day bed that serves as an additional bed.  For families needing more space, the Suites have adjacent Deluxe Rooms with interconnecting doors that can also be booked.

Facilities
The Beach offers international and Sri Lankan cuisine that is served at the Black Coral fine dining restaurant, The sand overlooking the beach where Sri Lanka’s numerous varieties of Teas can also be tasted at the tea corner and an excellent pool bar offering snacks. There is also in-room dining and special romantic dinners organized on the beach under the stars.  You can relax and be pampered at the luxurious Spa with steam baths and plunge pools, offering a variety of aromatherapy, Thai & Shiatsu massages and treatments.  The Rama & Seetha room at the Spa equipped with a Jacuzzi for a relaxing flower bath with scented candles is a treat for couples.   Other facilities include a fully equipped conference facility and business centre with internet, well equipped gymnasium, tennis and squash courts, billiards and table tennis and two swimming pools.  The water sports centre located on the beach offers a variety of activities including surfing and snorkeling.  The Kids club is a novel concept where infants to pre-schoolers can participate in fun filled educational and creative activities allowing parents to have a relaxing holiday.  A Baby sitter can also be organized upon request.

Excursions
The Beach is a central location from which to experience the North West coastal culture, heritage and natural beauty.  The in-house Naturalist will accompany you on guided tours to see Negombo’s colonial architectural heritage including Portuguese period Catholic Churches, ruins of the Dutch Fort and cemetery, and boat rides along the centuries old Dutch Canals.  Take a boat ride into the Muthurajawela Marshes - rich in bird life and amphibians.  Visit a fishing village and the early morning fish auction bustling with activity as the catamarans comes ashore with their bounty of fresh fish, prawns, crabs and lobster.  Negombo by night also has a vibrant atmosphere with a scattering of bars and restaurants.
