The luxurious four-suite manor house and gardens lie at the top of an extensive terraced estate which offers wonderful views of the paddy fields beyond. The gardens are filled with mahogany, king coconut and mango and attract numerous birds. This manor house is fully equipped and elegantly decorated with South Asian antiques and tapestries. Polheena comfortably sleeps nine and children are welcome. Manjula, a cook who is trained in Sri Lankan and Western cuisine, will gladly assist with grocery shopping as well as meals.

Accommodation Two suites on the ground floor and upstairs all have ensuite bathrooms and some have a/c. The high roofs and overhead ceiling fans help to keep the rooms cool.
- Ground Floor Suites: Two spacious suites, one with a/c and both furnished with antique four-poster double beds open out to the front garden and croquet lawn with views of the swimming pool and paddy fields. Each suite has a lounging area and spacious ensuite bathrooms with black and white chequered floors, bathtub, washbasin, and w/c.
- First floor Suites: Two suites, one double and the Master suite with a double room and adjoining single room, both open out to private balconies with spectacular views. All have ensuite bathrooms with h/w showers, washbasin and w/c. The Master suite has a/c and is ideal for a family. A cot is available upon request.
Facilities Plush sofas, a bar area, work desk with internet, a library, ipod station, TV and DVD player makes the ground floor living room perfect for relaxation. The adjoining dining area has seating for eight and opens out to the back garden. There is a well equipped kitchen. The swimming pool has a lounging area equipped with recliners and tables where snacks or romantic candlelit diners are served upon request.
Excursions Guests can stroll along paddy fields and village paths in this rural southern village. The beautiful beaches of Thalpe, Unawatuna are nearby and surfing is possible at Midigama. Guests can also visit Taprobane Island in Weligama or go on a boat ride in Koggala Lake with many tiny islands rich in birdlife. Visit the nearby Yatagala Buddhist temple with its giant boulder formations. Galles historic 17th century Dutch Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site is just 15 minutes away. Hours can be spent exploring the maze of narrow streets lined with Dutch and British period buildings, the sturdy ramparts looking out to sea, and a growing collection of art galleries, antique shops, cafes and restaurants. |
