This comfortable house has a homely feel and is in tune with its pristine natural surroundings. The house overlooks the majestic Knuckles Range at the back and in front gazes over the luminous, tea-covered hills of the Dukwari Estate. Watch the sunrise over the mountains peaks, relax by the swimming pool amidst abundant tropical foliage and birdsong, or go on walks through the wilderness, the tea estate, and the villages. You can buy freshly baked bread or have a hot cup of famous Ceylon tea at the village bakery. Rangala House can be booked in its entirety or per room.

Accommodation Rangala has 3 airy double bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms with hot and cold showers, wash basin, and w/c. Overhead ceiling fans and mountain breezes keep the rooms cool and comfortable.
Facilities The living room has a stone fireplace and opens out to a large covered verandah with magnificent mountain views and comfortable lounge chairs. By night, a log fire is lit and dinners are served on the verandah overlooking a star filled night sky. The living room has a TV with satellite and DVD, music system, and library. Guests can select movies for viewing from the British owner’s wide collection of DVDs. Several board games and a table tennis table are also available. Down the hill from the main house is the swimming pool amid flowering gardens and trees laden with mango, passion fruit, and avocado. Rangala House has a fully equipped pantry where guests can do their own cooking with the help of the in-house cook or he will be happy to prepare the entire meal for you. Groceries are purchased from the local market or in Kandy. Guests are charged only the cost price for food and beverages. The staff can do all the shopping for you, or take you round the shops and the markets if you wish. Rangala House is well staffed with a cook, housekeeping staff and the owner who is always at hand to ensure high levels of attention.
Excursions The Knuckles wilderness is home to numerous species of birds, butterflies, and animals such as deer and wild boar. Explore the immediate surroundings and the nearby Dukwari Tea estate and tea factory. Visit the Deenstone Park, Mini Worlds End, and Corbet’s Gap with nature trails and magnificent views. The Victoria Golf and Country Club located 45 minutes away, offers a wide range of recreational facilities including an 18-hole golf course, Putting green and practice range, floodlit tennis court, and Saddle club and horse safaris. |
