Rainforest Edge, perched high above the rolling hills of Waddagala, is blessed by one of the most restful panoramas in Sri Lanka.  From this appealing new property, you can gaze upon rolling tea plantations, studded with tea bungalows and factories.  Rustic style in harmony with nature is the essence of appeal here. This is an isolated, pollution-free environment without discomforts. The overall effect is a charming, eco-friendly combination of comfort and traditional village construction.  Service standards – initially, at least -- might not always possess the impeccable professionalism found in more accessible parts of Sri Lanka, but you have the chance to enjoy the hospitality of Sinharaja villagers in a beautiful natural setting.  Rainforest edge is just five miles from the northern entrance to Sinharajah rain forest, a UNESCO protected world heritage site.

Accommodation
Rainforest Edge has seven creatively designed rooms, including one family room.  All are furnished with bolster pillows and mattress where you can take a book, gaze upon the tea slopes beyond and listen to the birdsong. Bedrooms are modestly sized, yet attractive and half-open bathrooms have modern facilities. Rooms and bathrooms have painted concrete floors. Rooms have tea/coffee making facilities.

Facilities
An Ayurvedic room, offering a full range of natural therapies, is a natural offering for such a hotel and will attract many guests, both short and long stay. Some may just wish to relax with a simple spa or massage. The centre piece of this small development is an attractive natural-water pool, surrounded by water lilies and Indonesian pots, and a simple thatched restaurant constructed from local materials offering both western and eastern dishes. Energy is provided by a combination of solar energy and kerosene lamps. Deliberately, there are no televisions or telephones – and your mobile will not work either – encouraging you to settle into a relaxing, caring environment. Fruits and vegetables are all grown organically inside the grounds.
