Facilities
A sense of tranquility begins at the doorstep to this hotel.  Tall shady trees with cascading roots and waterways lead to the hotel’s luxurious garden Spa on one side and the main hotel on the other. Sahana, the garden spa, offers an array of treatments as well as yoga and reflexology in luxurious suites.  The Deluxe Suite is set in a water garden with an aromatic sauna, steam shower, large ergonomically designed Jacuzzi, mud bath, treatment room, dining pavilion and relaxation pavilion with a double bed. The spa’s Superior Suite incorporates all these facilities and is set in a tranquil tropical garden.  Saman Villas takes great care in providing the ultimate dining experience. Dining indoors – in the restaurant or outdoors beneath the stars on the beach, perched on a rock, at the edge of the pool, in the water garden at the Sahana Spa or even in the privacy of your own bedroom terrace – the choice is yours.   A varied selection of Sri Lankan, eastern and western dishes are served.  The pool bar as well as the upstairs Sunset bar with magnificent views of the sea, is perfect for taking in the red skies at sunset.  Adjoining is the airconditioned library bar, with snooker table and a varied selection of books.  For the more active, there is a fitness centre, badminton court and table tennis.

Excursions
Saman Villas is located close to Bentota and Hikkaduwa, two of the coast’s most popular resort towns, offering watersports including scuba diving, snorkeling and windsurfing, jet skiing, water skiing, sailing and boat trips along the river.  Other adventurous excursions include village trekking along scenic paddy fields and streams, a visit to the Marine Turtle conservation project in Kosgoda, and visit to the Sinharaja Rain Forest.  We also recommend a visist to Lunuganga, a garden retreat that was originally an old rubber plantation that Geoffrey Bawa, Sri Lanka’s most famous architect, transformed into a haven of peace. Ten kilometres inland from Bentota are the beautiful Brief Gardens, the rural retreat of Bevis Bawa, the older brother of architect Geoffrey Bawa which is also well worth a visit.
